The forest keeps time.

Schwarzwald is a fictional seven-generation clock house in Schonach im Schwarzwald. The experience treats every clock as a living record—raised from seasoned linden, released by correspondence, and kept in the Werkverzeichnis long after it leaves the house.

The premise

A clock is raised, not manufactured.

Most commerce systems are designed to remove friction between desire and purchase. Schwarzwald needed a different rhythm: twelve clocks leave the house each year, and acquisition begins with correspondence rather than a cart.

That scarcity is not presented as a luxury tactic. It follows from the material, the hours of carving, and the family’s obligation to keep a permanent record of every work.

    Time makes place real

    The interface knows the hour in Schonach. Its status and atmosphere follow the workshop rather than the visitor’s device clock.

    Material honesty over polish

    Linden moves with the seasons. The experience names grain, drying, carving hours, and the hairlines that may open and close over time.

    Correspondence, not checkout

    A request begins a human exchange about a specific work. The product flow preserves deliberation instead of imitating instant retail.

    The record outlives the sale

    Promised and privately held clocks remain visible in the ledger. Scarcity becomes institutional memory, not disappearing inventory.
