Thales STV+ Concept

For the Thales STV+ project, I was tasked to work with Thales product management and JetBlue to come up with designs to enhance the current seatback solution with designs for a larger, 10" screen from a 5"screen. One of the requirements is that it integrates a live TV guide, specifically provided by DirectTV. I proposed offering two ways to select TV channels, a traditional guide, and a gallery grid UI that allows viewing by networks - a more modern mode of TV show navigation that is similar to YouTube and popular TV streaming services like Sling and DirectTV.

Revolutionizing In-Flight Entertainment: Network-Centric TV Guide
This design transforms the traditional in-flight TV experience with a modern, network-focused interface. While the initial brief called for a conventional TV guide, this innovative approach challenged outdated perceptions. By replacing channel surfing with intuitive logo thumbnails, the design streamlines content discovery and enhances user engagement. The concept's fresh perspective excited both the team and stakeholders, demonstrating how rethinking established interfaces can lead to superior user experiences in constrained environments like air travel.

Traditional TV Guide
This view offers a classic TV guide layout for passengers who prefer the familiar, grid-style browsing experience. It provides an easy-to-navigate schedule, allowing users to scroll through channels and time slots to find their desired programming. This option caters to those who are more comfortable with the traditional TV guide format.
